Session Description

Rapid network growth and smartphone adoption has provided much of Africa access to services which would have been unimaginable only a decade ago. However, access, and therefore progress, remains out of reach for many in the continent. Internet access is just one element in the digitalization journey, but to use this, you need access to the right technology, and there are still many across the region that cannot afford basic mobile phones. There are other key components that need to be factored into the mix, and this session will discuss what is critical to closing the digital gap and reducing inequalities - providing accessible, secure and reliable Internet, alongside education and finance to ensure the growing digital ecosystem is open to all.
