Session Description
Women are an important voice in Africa’s communities, and bridging the gender gap could yield profound and long-lasting economic returns. Yet they face an array of obstacles that prevent them from playing these roles to their full potential. We believe that Women’s economic empowerment is anchored by education and developing digital literacy and skills will provide the necessary capabilities to take advantage of the growth and prosperity promised by the digital economy. The education, social inclusion, and economic integration of African women has already started shaping the future of the continent, with sub-Saharan Africa boasting the world’s highest rate of women entrepreneurs. For the region to progress this growth, let’s discuss how governments and organizations must work towards the advancement and equal opportunity of women by expanding programs that have been shown to work, and to develop new ways to encourage women’s empowerment and self-reliance.
