Speaker Bio
Gianluca Storchi is a Data Manager for the Mobile Money programme at GSMA. Within the Data and Insights team, he leads project data analytics, and authors blogs and reports. He spearheads data processing and analysis for the annual State of the Industry Report on mobile money and co-authors the publication. Gianluca also co-authored “Mobile money: How digital payments have impacted economic growth”, a groundbreaking report that establishes the macroeconomic impacts of mobile money.
Before this, Gianluca worked at Pula Advisors in the research and consulting team, where he produced feasibility studies and reports on agricultural insurance. Prior to Pula, he was a Senior Research Analyst at a transaction advisory company. There, he generated investment marketing materials for African start-ups seeking to raise capital. Gianluca’s previous roles include independent research and economic consulting for clients including USAID. He has worked in executive education and training too.
Gianluca holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Economic Policy from University College London, where he completed a dissertation on alternative insurance mechanisms in rural Tanzania.
