Ritu Shroff

UNHCR, Director, Strategic Planning and Results

Speaker Bio

Ritu Shroff took up her functions as the Director of UNHCR’s newly created Division of Strategic Planning and Results in January 2020. The division’s role is to consolidate and strengthen existing programme, budget, partner management, and results management functions, and act as an engine to support annual and multi-year programme planning, monitoring, and reporting on results across UNHCR. As Director of the new Division, she reports to the Deputy High Commissioner. As Head of UNHCR’s Evaluation Service from 2017 to 2019, Ritu Shroff steered the evaluation function and reshaped its role in the context of increasing pressure from donors and others for a strong evaluation function, with a dual focus on increased accountability and learning.

Prior to joining UNHCR in 2017, Ritu had an extensive career in humanitarian and development work in Africa, Asia and the United States, including considerable experience in programme planning, design and delivery, monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability with NGOs, UN agencies and the Gates Foundation, where she served as Deputy Director, Strategy, Measurement and Evaluation for 5.5 years.
