Speaker Bio
Omar Cissé is a key player in the digital sector and a strong advocate for entrepreneurship in
Africa. He is the founder and CEO of the InTouch group, a pan-African fintech whose ambition is to contribute to achieving a greater financial inclusion for all Africans by transforming access to digital payments and services. Started in 2014 in Senegal, this venture has now spread to 27 countries. To date, the Guichet Unique® - the payment services platform designed by InTouch - has generated a transaction volume of nearly FCFA 10,000 billion, with more than 400 digital services available and a distribution network of more than 60,000 TouchPoints across Africa.
A passionate entrepreneur, Omar has successfully built several other businesses along the way, always leveraging on strong alliances and partnerships. Recognised for his significant contribution to the local and regional ecosystem, he is also a member of the National Digital Council established by the State of Senegal as part of the New Deal for Technology.
In 2001, on leaving engineering school, he co-established his first company called 2SI, specialised in software engineering, which he ran from 2005 to 2010.
In 2010, he launched CTIC Dakar, the first ICT business incubator in Senegal and the sub-region, in partnership with Infodev, a World Bank Group multi-donor program. He ran the structure until 2013, after supporting more than a hundred start-ups.
Finally, in 2015, he co-founded the investment fund Teranga Capital with the vision of providing a practical and sustainable response to the issue of start-up financing. He has since been a member of the Board of Directors.
Omar completed his secondary education at the Collège Sacré Cœur and then at the Lycée Galandou Diouf. He then attended the École Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar, where he obtained a degree in computer design engineering in 2000.
He also underwent an international MBA at the Institut Supérieur de Management.
