Speaker Bio
Nomonde is a Senior Policy Manager focused on the Southern Africa subregion. Having navigated various sectors, including online digital platforms, telecommunications, broadcast (Public, Private, Community), and print media, Nomonde’s expertise is extensive and far-reaching.
In her previous role as Head of Public Policy, Southern Africa Region at Meta (formerly Facebook), Nomonde spearheaded engagements on critical policy reforms, focusing on consumer rights, data privacy, and digital content. Nomonde’s commitment to advancing regulatory standards led her to serve as a Councillor at the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), where she played a pivotal role in spectrum management across various sectors. Additionally, as Chairperson of the Digital Migration Advisory Council (DMAC), she advised the South African Minister of Communications on migration from analogue to digital television.
Nomonde holds a Master’s Degree in ICT Policy and Regulation, as well as a Management Advancement Programme (MAP) from the University of Witwatersrand. She further honed her expertise through a program on Regulations, Business Models, Innovation, and Regulation in the Digital World at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
