Mr. Simon Karemu is a seasoned central banker with over three decades of experience at the Central Bank of Kenya, where he has held key roles in payments and banking. His expertise spans payment systems oversight, risk management and policy development, with a proven track record of driving innovation and efficiency in Kenya’s financial sector. Mr. Karemu has played a pivotal role in implementing major national and regional payment systems, including the Kenya Electronic Payment and Settlement System (KEPSS), the Automated Clearing House, the East African Payment System (EAPS), Internet Banking, and mobile money platforms. He also led the development of the National Payment Strategy 2022–2025, steering Kenya’s transition toward a secure, fast, and collaborative payments ecosystem.
