With 27 years of experience in the financial services industry across the United States, Asia and Africa, Mudassar is dedicated to driving innovation in finance. His career is marked by a commitment to financial inclusion and the transformative power of fintech.
Currently, Mudassar serves as the Group Executive Banktech for MTN's fintech business MoMo. Where his mandate is to build innovative credit solutions to serve MoMo’s ~65 million MAU base across Africa using data science, ML & AI.
With a wealth of experience, including a 12-year tenure as CEO in the banking and fintech space, Mudassar brings a deep understanding of digital transformation, digital/neo banking models, banking regulation, digital & SME lending, payments, and platform strategy. Notably, he successfully turned around two banks and a wallet platform into market leading entities.
Prior to joining MTN, he served as CEO at Telenor Bank & Easypaisa, a joint venture between Telenor & Ant Group, where he led the organization to profitability, expanded the wallet business threefold to 12.5 million MAUs, making Easypaisa Pakistan’s largest app, implemented a digital operating model.
Mudassar holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Salisbury University, MD, USA, and is an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
