Eunice Mwende

Speaker Bio

Eunice Mwende is an accomplished humanitarian and development leader with over 20 years of experience across East Africa. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Alight Rwanda (formerly American Refugee Committee).

Eunice has worked across four countries—Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, and Rwanda—where she has held senior leadership roles in various international organizations within the humanitarian sector. Her extensive experience includes co-leading the global cash working group and leading cash coordination in Uganda during her tenure with the World Food Programme.

She spent 15 years of her career working in Somalia and has also served as Country Director in both Kenya and Somalia with International Alert. Throughout her career, Eunice has demonstrated strong expertise in building high-performing teams and organizations in complex environments, with a focus on impact, growth, and innovation.

Eunice has a particular interest in women’s economic empowerment and digital transformation. She currently leads the Alight Rwanda enterprise, which aims to unlock the potential and resilience of displaced and vulnerable host communities in Rwanda throughout their displacement journey
