Session Description

Africa is entering a new phase of digital health, where data, AI, and connectivity are enabling more predictive, personalised, and efficient healthcare systems. Anchored by Rwanda’s commitment to integrated health data systems, this session explores how countries are turning health data into actionable insights, from disease surveillance and modelling to clinical decision-making and remote healthcare.

Anchored by Rwanda's Ministry of Health, this session demonstrates how a country can move from pilots to a fully integrated, national digital health ecosystem. Through a live showcase of Rwanda's connected health architecture — from community-level platforms to national health intelligence — the session illustrates what end-to-end digital health integration looks like in practice.

The showcase will highlight Rwanda's data flow from patient encounter to national dashboard, AI-ready use cases including disease prediction and anomaly detection, and the enabling role of connectivity and interoperability. Applied AI case studies from Rwanda's digital health partners will demonstrate real-world impact, followed by a panel discussion on governance, data sovereignty, and the partnership models that make national-scale digital health sustainable.

The session examines how connectivity, digital infrastructure, and data systems are enabling advanced use cases, including AI-driven diagnostics, real-time analytics, remote patient monitoring, and population health intelligence. It also addresses the conditions required to scale these capabilities sustainably, including governance, interoperability, trusted infrastructure, and effective partnerships between governments, mobile operators, technology providers, innovators, and health institutions.
