Session Description
The GSMA Technology Summit brings together expert voices from the GSMA’s working groups aligned with the topics most relevant to operators across the African continent.
The first part of this session will explore the multifaceted challenges of implementing 5G technology across Africa. We will be focus on hurdles such as infrastructure limitations, high deployment costs, and the complexity of upgrading legacy networks.
Following that, we will focus on the rapid pace of quantum computing advancements and the summit will bring together cybersecurity experts, telecom operators, and technology innovators to examine the implications for cryptographic standards and data protection across the continent. The session will address the urgent need to transition from classical encryption methods to quantum-resistant solutions, ensuring that African digital infrastructures remain resilient against emerging threats.
Key topics will include:
- network interoperability
- power supply reliability
- skills development within the workforce
- the vulnerabilities of traditional cryptographic systems
- the strategies for implementing post-quantum cryptography in both existing and next-generation networks.
