Reshaping Climate Finance: Unlocking Carbon Market Solutions

This session will examine how digital innovation and supporting policy frameworks can enable a more inclusive, transparent, and credible carbon markets ecosystem. It will explore the key opportunities and barriers for using digital technologies, such as dMRV platforms, IoT devices and blockchain, to support the development of accessible, verifiable carbon credits. It will feature a panel discussion, spotlighting successful business models and technologies already being deployed – including those led by mobile network operators (MNOs).  

The panel will also address critical issues such as avoiding greenwashing and double counting and examine how governments can create the regulatory and financial foundations needed to enable carbon markets. Finally, the discussion will consider what the next generation of digitally enabled carbon markets could look like, and how public and private actors can shape that future together.
