Session Description

Agri-entrepreneurs face a variety of sector-specific challenges when seeking to grow and scale their services. Traditional methods of delivering agricultural services to farmers is time-consuming and expensive for solution providers to achieve scale, and creates operational inefficiencies resulting in weak business models. Digital agriculture solutions have the potential to support climate adaptation among smallholder farmers in Africa by enhancing productivity and profitability. Digital technologies can provide real-time agronomic advice, weather forecasts, market linkages and financial services which inform decisions to improve yields and reduce risk for the farmer. Studies highlight the potential of digital tools to drive yield improvements of up to 170% and increase income by as much as 20% to 60%, largely through enhanced resource allocation, cost savings and better market access.

Joining us to discuss this critical topic are sector actors (innovators, a Technical Assistance provider, a MNO representative, and an insurance provider) who will share their lessons in building and facilitating scalable models leading to more resilient food systems.
