Session Description
The mobile sector underpins economic growth in Africa, yet rising energy prices, infrastructure costs, and currency volatility are threatening continued investment. Harmonising energy and digital infrastructure investment can help operators overcome these macroeconomic challenges while accelerating network rollout and innovation. Furthermore, the next growth phase must be powered by sustainable, affordable energy solutions. By forging stronger links between the energy and telecom sectors, and unlocking blended financing mechanisms, governments and industry leaders can accelerate rural electrification, reduce carbon intensity, and ensure the affordability of future digital services. With data-driven insights and regional case studies, leaders will examine policy reforms and investment models that reduce risk, enable cost-efficiency, and support the sustainable expansion of 4G and 5G infrastructure. What bold actions are needed from governments and investors to strengthen sector resilience and ensure digital services reach every community? What new models of partnership, investment, and infrastructure are needed to fuel a just, green transition for Africa’s digital future?
