Session Description
As digital services continue to expand across Africa, scams, online fraud and other forms of digital harm are becoming more widespread – affecting consumers, businesses and trust in digital platforms. At the same time, growing online participation is increasing the need to better protect children and young users from abuse, exploitation and harmful content. Building on global efforts to align government and industry responses, attention is now turning to how collaboration can be strengthened in practice. This session explores how different actors – from telecom operators and financial institutions to regulators and online platforms – are working together to detect, prevent and respond to evolving threats.
The discussion will also explore how industry cooperation, including initiatives such as Open Gateway, is helping to strengthen collective capabilities and boost intelligence sharing in the face of increasingly sophisticated risks.
