Session Description
Satellite connectivity in Africa is gaining real momentum. This session examines how satellite can complement terrestrial mobile networks, reaching underserved areas while hybrid deployment models mature, drawing on the latest GSMA analysis and regional experience. The discussion will also highlight practical considerations for regulators and industry on issues of spectrum use, ensuring regulatory frameworks keep pace with fast-evolving satellite services, and how to incentivise the right mix of communication providers. On the policy side, this means addressing how regulation should ensure the same protection for consumers and societal needs regardless of the technology used to provide communication services.
