Session Description
Communicable diseases remain a persistent global threat – one which is only set to increase due to the combined impacts of climate change and the emergence of new pathogens. With health systems worldwide facing great strain, mobile technology is increasingly used to facilitate communicable disease management across different stages of the disease lifecycle, from prediction, to prevention, detection and monitoring. Mobile operators also have a key role to play. This interactive session will examine the current landscape of where and how digital and mobile-driven solutions are supporting the management of communicable disease in Africa, with a deep dive into the enabling factors and challenges surrounding their implementation.
The session will identify what further cross-sector action, and collaboration, is required to support mobile and digital health actors to play an increased role in tackling the global health security threat posed by communicable diseases, not only to citizens and health systems in Africa, but across the globe.
Please note that a small number of observer places will be available and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
