Session Description
5G marks a transformative leap in Africa’s connectivity journey, ushering in a new era of ultra-fast networks, intelligent infrastructure, and real-time communication. As the industry evolves toward 5G Advanced and, in the longer term, 6G, networks are becoming more intelligent, adaptive, and context-aware, moving beyond connectivity to enable capabilities such as sensing, environmental monitoring, and real-time risk detection.
These next-generation networks will not only power industries but also play a critical role in addressing some of Africa’s most pressing challenges, from climate monitoring and disaster response to infrastructure resilience and resource management. As telecoms evolve from traditional service providers to digital enablers, advanced connectivity will unlock new innovation opportunities while supporting safer, smarter, and more sustainable societies.
By 2030, 5G is projected to contribute over $11 billion to the Sub-Saharan African economy, accounting for more than 6% of the total mobile economic impact. But as we look beyond 5G, the focus must also be on bridging the digital divide, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring that the benefits of advanced networks reach rural and underserved communities.
Join us to explore what 5G Advanced and the path to 6G truly mean for Africa, not just as a technology evolution, but as a foundation for inclusive growth, environmental intelligence, and long-term resilience.
